Smith 73777,1360 Huh? What do you mean you had to crank up a window to view 'em? Who did the GIFShow your using? I never released any version that only handled 320 x 200. But they will "squish" the image onto a 320 x 200 or 320 x 400 screen in the original GIFShow. Also the one you probably have did NOT support the palette chip, cause I wrote it on a prototype that didn't have a palette. (Boy am I glad they everyone nudged IMS into having Kev Pease put on eon the board) . Most 256 color GIF's really suck with only the stock boot up colors. Now with 8 bits of R-G-B each, instead of 3 bits red, 3 bits green and 2 bits blue, you can get some very realistic colors. I guess I should release the latest version that handles GIF89a files. It'll display ANY GIF and use the correct colors, plus do plain text rendering, multi-image files. Best bonus is the speed optimizing done by James Jones. (Thanks again JJ!) As the message has scrolled off long ago I thought I might ask how this could be done. I HATE swapping floppies!!! I backed up all the distribution disks to brand new 2.0 M disks and was using them until the MM/1 blew up - well, more like a loud POP, actually. Now, I can only read one out of the 8 or so disks that I have data on. It's beginning to look like the stepper in the drive took a dump, as it doesn't want to read much past sector 0. I will play around with it some more and get back with detailed errata. What's got me worried is that 'format' won't work on this drive - it gets almost done and then errors out with a '246' (I think) seek error. re: nylon spacers Yep, the kit has some in there, but using them with the aluminum standoffs puts the board about 1/16" too high for the rear connectors - and also there's nothing in the installation docs about using them.
